On my development machines I allways like to enable the Autologon feature of Windows. I know this might be a security breach, but I'm comfortable with it.
When upgrading my development machines to Windows 7 I was struggling a bit on how to set the AutoLogon feature in Windows 7. I used to edit the information directly into the registry, but I found there are other ways as well.
I found a good manual here: http://www.logonexpert.com/freeautologon.html
Not only do they explain the "old school" way (in the registry) but also using the Advanced User Accounts Control Panel item.
I couldn't start the console through control userpasswords2 however, but typing netplwiz did the trick.
Deselect the checkbox "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" and type your credentials when prompted.
